Virtual ADHD Diagnostic Assessments for Children at ADHD IQ

I provide comprehensive ADHD assessments for children ages 4-12.

The assessment process consists of multiple electronic screening tools for a parent and a teacher to complete prior to a 60-90 minute virtual interview. Most of the interview is for the parent only, but I would like to have your child join us for part of the time so I can meet him or her and briefly observe him or her. Some kids last longer than others with the virtual format, so there is no pressure for the child to be in the interview for any specific period of time. He or she can play nearby and join us as they are able.

I will provide a written diagnostic report within 2 weeks of our appointment which includes my findings and treatment recommendations. I am available for a follow-up appointment free of charge to review the report together if you have any questions. If indeed your child meets the diagnostic criteria for ADHD, and you would like to proceed with treatment, I provide therapy and ADHD coaching to help make life with ADHD more manageable.

An ADHD diagnosis requires that:

1. An ADHD diagnosis for children requires six or more in one of the two main categories (or both) over the last six months — inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity.

2. Children must have symptomatic behavior in two or more settings, like at home, school or at work, usually as identified by two or more observers.

3. The symptoms are debilitating and interfere with daily functioning.

4. Symptomatic behavior started in childhood, usually before age 12, even though a diagnosis may not have been made at that time.

5. Symptoms aren’t better explained by another diagnosis like a trauma disorder, an anxiety disorder, depression or a sleep disturbance. However, it is possible and quite common to have ADHD and one or more of these other diagnoses. Great care will be taken to understand your specific presentation to get the diagnosis and treatment right.
